Yazd is located in the central part of Iranian plateau. This city has a history of more than 5000 years and was registered under UNESCO World Heritage on 2017. The city is close to the spice and silk roads and was called the noble city of Yazd by Marco Polo. Yazd alongside the cities of Isfahan and Shiraz form the golden triangle of tourism in Iran.
Yazd is the center of Zoroatrian community in Iran and you can see religious monuments like fire temples there as well. Another notable place which is related to Zoroastians is the tower of silence with its unique religious ritual.
Since the city has a desertic climate, water was transferred for kilometers through an underground aqueduct called Qanat. With the help of this system, the water was distributed equally amongst the people of the city.
Since ages ago, this city has been famous for its silk textiles which was rivaled only by Isfahan and Kashan. Next notable industry in Yazd are Ceramic and construction materials and copper deposits. Its unique confectionery is famous around Iran where you can find a variety of sweets based on your taste.
This city has a diverse culture regarding religions including Islam, Judaism and Zoroastrianism. People with different beliefs have been living in harmony together and have a combination of different buildings of their own. These buildings include mosques, fire temples, synagogues, mausoleums, hammams and so on.
One of the highlights in Yazd is the Friday mosque with its unique decorations and its entrance which reminds you of Gothic architecture.
This city is known as the city of wind towers which the tallest in the world is in Dowlat Abad garden. This garden is one of the nine persian gardens registered under UNESCO World Heritage as well.
