An Iran travel visa is exclusively granted for tourism purposes. Most travelers require a visa to enter Iran. Passports of travelers entering Iran will not be stamped.
As of February 4, 2023, Iran expanded its visa-free access up to 28 countries with just a passport.

How to apply for Iran tourist visa
First things first, you must contact a travel agent in Iran to issue a Letter of Invitation (Iran Visa Code).
Here in Iran Travelmania we will submit an application with the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA). If the application is successful, they will send you a visa code, which you have to take to the Iran Embassy/Consulate along with all the other required documents.

Mandatory Iranian travel insurance for visa application
As of May 21, 2024, it is required to purchase Iranian travel insurance when applying for a visa at an Iranian embassy or upon arrival at the airport. The insurance costs €10 per person and must be paid directly when receiving the visa paper at the Iranian consulate or upon arrival at the airport.

How long does it take to receive an Iran visa?
It takes up to 7 working days to receive an Iran visa code from the travel agency. For citizens of US, UK and Canada it takes up to 3 month.
after receiving Iran visa code, you should apply for your Iran visa at the embassy. It can take up to two weeks depending on your nationality.
Is it possible to extend my visa to Iran?

US, UK and Canadian citizens should have an approved tour guide and itinerary beforehand. US, UK and Canadian citizens must be accompanied by a tour guide at all times.

Visa requirements for the citizens of US, UK and Canada
US, UK and Canadian citizens should apply for a travel authorization number through a licensed tour operator like IranTravelmania. The following information is required to submit for visa authorization code:
1- Passport scan

- clear and in focus
- in color
- unaltered by computer software
- at least 50KB and no more than 10MB
2- Passport photo

Your photo must be:

- at least 600 pixels wide and 750 pixels tall
- at least 50KB and no more than 2MB

I’m a US/Canada citizen. Can I get my visa by mail?
You’ll have to mail your visa application and passport to the Iranian Interests Section of the Pakistan Embassy. Pakistan’s embassy operates as the representative of Iran, as there’s no Iranian embassy in the United States. To obtain the visa, you’ll need to provide the following items in your mailed package, and send to 1250 23rd St. N.W. Suite # 200 Washington, DC 20037:
- Visa application form ( provided by IranTravelmania )
- Authorization code ( provided by IranTravelmania )
- Color passport photo
- Valid passport ( minimum six month validity )
- Insurance: to collect your visa directly, you must carry your travel insurance policy that covers you whilst in Iran. You can buy your insurance through IranTravelmania.
- 120$ for visa processing fee & return mailing fee.
After mailing your paperwork, it usually take up to 3 weeks to process and receive it in your mail box.
If you live near Washington DC, you can take your authorization code, visa application forms, passport photos, passport, and $90 USD (no mailing fee needed) to the Pakistan Embassy yourself, located at 1250 23rd St NW #200, on any weekday from 8-11 AM or 2-4 PM.
After dropping your passport off, it takes about 4 days to process the visa. You can pick up your passport and visa at the same office where you dropped it off.
I’m a UK citizen. Can I get my visa by mail?
Visas for UK citizens are issued only in person. After receiving the visa verification code, you should submit your documents to the Iranian Embassy in London at 150 Kensington Court London W8 5DD, on any weekday from 9-12 AM, Tel: +44 (20) 722-53000 – email: lon.visa@mfa.gov.ir
